Doocey Directional Drill Reduces Carbon Footprint

On one of our many South Staffs Water contracts Doocey Group reduced works during the first COVID-19 lockdown. Using the pipe burst and slip line technique to install 2240m of new 110, 90 and 63mm PE pipe. The route along Coppice Lane lead into the busy Coppice Industrial Estate, Brownhills.

The scheme was initially programmed for later in the year but Doocey Group after approaching Walsall Council were able to take advantage of the COVID-19 lockdown quieter roads to carry out these essential works.

After several trial holes our own Directional Drill services were used where possible reducing the amount of excavation and spoil whilst minimising the need for excessive tarmacing. Adopting this strategy on many of our projects helps to reduce our carbon footprint.

The overall scheme was shortened from an initial thirteen week programme to be completed in nine weeks achieving a welcome low impact on the busy industrial area.
