The Candidate
As a Senior Estimator within our Multi Utilities department, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of multi-utility infrastructure projects, including water, gas, electricity, and telecoms. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and produce accurate cost estimates for a variety of projects, ensuring that bids are competitive while maintaining profitability and compliance with the project’s scope and requirements. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop detailed first principles estimates and tender submissions. You need to be able to work collaboratively with many stakeholders and deliver exceptional customer service skills will be required across a diverse range of residential, EV charging and Industrial & Commercial clients/local authorities, asset adopters etc.
Candidates will need to have previously worked for firms within either civil engineering or multi utilities. Extensive experience within same role, or similar within the civil engineering sector is required.
The person we are looking for will be self-driven, results-oriented, with a ‘can do’ attitude without compromising safety and/or compliance. Problem Solving is a must in this role within a reactive, fast paced work environment that is typical of Multi Utilities.
The Role
Evaluate project scope, risk and pricing strategy for all work types, ensuring all information is correct, accurate,
Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates and submission documents for all works, within a timely and efficient manner.
Produce estimates from first principles using software and company master libraries, ensuring estimates are accurate and comprehensive
Manage multiple estimates and tenders simultaneously, ensuring all work is completed as requested and within specified timeframes.
Manage the bid process, driving the tendering process, ringing the team and required resource together to achieve the required outputs
Working with existing designs, estimate and prepare complete proposals to Doocey and customer expectations
Produce draft design sketches using PDF Xchange Editor for design and build projects where no design is available.
Create accurate and comprehensive quantity take-offs
Prepare sign off and commercial documents for peer review and approval with the Head of Estimating and Directors.
Prepare comprehensive governance slide pack to present tender proposals, proposed methodologies and submission documents to the directors for review and final approval
Liaise and support the business development function in all work-winning activities, to ensure all estimating is completed thoroughly and accurately, within required time frames.
Qualifications
Qualified by experience or relevant qualification – experience in similar role will be the driving factor
A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
GCSE’s Grade 9-4 or equivalent.
Location
Head Office – Tipton, West Midlands – Limited Hybrid Working maybe considered subject to a successful initial phase of office-based working to establish team coherence and business understanding.
